Singapore Dance Theatre’s (SDT) international repertory season, Masterpiece in Motion, takes place this week on Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd of August, at the Esplanade Theatre.
SDT will present a triple-bill of stunning contemporary works. This is the sixth season of Masterpiece in Motion and will feature world-class ballets including the world premiere of Midnight Waltzes by François Klaus, the company premiere of Bournonville Divertissement by legendary choreographer August Bournonville, staged by Dinna Bjorn and Opus 25 by Edwaard Liang, an audience favourite at Ballet Under the Stars last year.
Artistic Director Janek Schergen says, “The purpose of SDT’s international repertory season, Masterpiece in Motion (MIM), is to bring in the most interesting ballets that are choreographed by well-regarded choreographers, with whom we can associate ourselves with. In the past six years, we have brought to stage works by Edwaard Liang, David Dawson, Nils Christe, Natalie Weir, Adrian Bunnett, François Klaus, Val Caniparoli, George Balanchine, and August Bournonville. Overall, Masterpiece in Motion is quite a world view in terms of distinction in the choreographic voices.”
