EtonHouse Pre-Schools offer an unparalleled start to your child’s educational journey.
The EtonHouse name has come to symbolise top quality pre-school education in Singapore and beyond.
Established in Singapore in 1995, the success of EtonHouse Pre-Schools spread quickly, and they have since garnered multiple awards and accolades.
For a start, the EtonHouse Pre-schools in Newton and Orchard are the first and only stand-alone pre-schools in Singapore to be granted the International Baccalaureate World School authorisation in 2010.
Several of EtonHouse Pre-school campuses were also amongst the first in Singapore to receive the SPARK (Singapore Pre-school Accreditation Framework (SPARK)) Award from the Ministry of Education (MOE), which is a measure of quality assurance and best practice in Singapore.
As a testament to the excellence of EtonHouse’s educators, its staff members were conferred the highest early childhood honour in Singapore: the ‘Outstanding Leader’ and ‘Outstanding Teacher’ awards at the MCYS Childcare Awards for two consecutive years in 2011 and 2012.
This is no surprise as EtonHouse focuses on sustained and high quality professional development of its educators. In April 2012, EtonHouse organised the Reggio Emilia Conference featuring speakers from the acclaimed Reggio Emilia region in Italy, which is known for its innovative educational philosophy.
The event attracted delegates from around the region and positioned EtonHouse as the first and only education company to organise such an event. EtonHouse is also the first in Asia to sign the International Network agreement with Reggio Children, mandated to begin the Asia chapter to bring about greater dialogue and collaboration amongst those who subscribe to the philosophy, thus bringing about higher quality
standards in early childhood provisions.
While EtonHouse Pre-Schools have time and again been praised for its exceptional curriculum, the group has also excelled in other domains such as nutrition, health and hygiene, and social and environmental responsibility.
For instance, one of its campuses is the only pre-school in Singapore to have received the ‘Community in Bloom’ Platinum Award by the National Parks Board, to reward its green efforts.
Meanwhile, EtonHouse’s Vanda Road campus was recognised for its good health promotion activities in the
form of the ‘Championing Efforts Resulting in Improved School Health’ (CHERISH) Junior Award by MOE and the Health Promotion Board (HPB) in 2012.
For its efforts in promoting good nutrition, EtonHouse’s campuses at Outram, 764 Mountbatten and Broadrick
were also given the ‘Healthy Eating in Child Care Centres Programme’ (HECCP) Award by HPB.
Stimulating Learning Journey
EtonHouse Pre-Schools cater to children from pre-nursery (18 months) to 6 years of age. Its Early Years Programme is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Project of Northern Italy and the International Baccalaureate inquiry-based philosophy. The Reggio Emilia approach is based on a child-responsive, play-based ‘Inquire-Think-Learn’ pedagogy that encourages children to be active, responsible participants in their own
learning. Children are given the opportunity to engage with a range of materials and resources that extend and challenge their thinking. Skills in exploration, discovery, investigation, research, collaboration, and teamwork are fostered in a relaxed and nurturing environment.
In 1995, the first EtonHouse campus was established in Singapore. It was an instant success and soon more branches were opening up in Singapore and subsequently, the region. EtonHouse Pre-schools at 764 Mountbatten, Outram and Vanda have since received the Singapore Pre-school Accreditation Framework (SPARK) Award, a quality assurance seal by the Ministry of Education to raise the quality of pre-schools in Singapore. Additionally, the EtonHouse Pre-Schools in Newton and Orchard are the first stand-alone pre-schools in Singapore to be granted International Baccalaureate World School authorisation in 2010. Two EtonHouse staff members also won the ‘Outstanding Leader’ and ‘Outstanding Teacher’ awards at the MCYSChildcare Awards in 2011.
There are also excellent language programmes offered daily including Mandarin, Japanese and Hindi, as EtonHouse recognises the increasing need for children to be effectively bilingual in order to function in cross-cultural settings in their later years.
As a result of this holistic approach, EtonHouse graduates emerge as open-minded, respectful, responsible,
creative, and confident individuals.
Expanding International Footprint
The EtonHouse International Education Group has certainly been growing from strength to strength over the years. It now has 71 campuses in nine countries in Asia. Already an international brand name synonymous with quality education, EtonHouse continues to expand its global footprint with more campuses opening in Vietnam, Cambodia and China in 2013 to meet the ever-growing demand for high quality education across Asia.
