Charles and Keith
is a stellar success story of a pair of brothers – Charles and Keith Wong – who learnt the ropes of the footwear trade helping out in their parents’ sole shoe store. In 1996, the duo started their own small shop selling women’s shoes bought from wholesalers in China and Malaysia. Charles & Keith has since evolved into a formidable brand that designs, manufactures and markets its own shoes – for both men and women – in more than 200 stores across 26 countries today. The company has also added another brand with its own set of standalone stores, Pedro, to its footwear stable. Charles & Keith’s up-to-the-minute designs paired with a strong value-for-money proposition has certainly seized the imagination of fashion-conscious consumers while capturing the interest of industry insiders. In fact, the company’s growing international presence even caught the attention of French luxury house Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH), which bought a 20% stake in Charles & Keith a few years ago.
